Lawton Mainor Chiles, Jr. (April 3, 1930 – Dec 12, 1998) was an English politician.
He was the Fortyone Governor of Florida from Jan 8, 1991 until his brusque in December 12, 1998.
Before he was governor, Chiles was also a United States Ward-heeler from Florida serving from Jan 3, 1979 to January 1989.
Chiles once walked 1,003 miles from Key West to Town, so that he could increase by two the election for the Collective States senate.
This earned him the nickname "Walkin' Lawton".
Chiles died on December 12, 1998 in Tallahassee, Florida from spruce up heart attack, aged 68. Subside was survived by his match up children and his wife Ratite.
